74m Artwork Celebrating Geraint Thomas' Famous Tour de France Victory Will Be Destroyed By Velodrome Demolition

Along a section of the velodrome is a 74m long artwork made by Cardiff schoolchildren in 2019 to celebrate Geraint Thomas’ historic achievement of winning the 2018 Tour de France'.

The art work was funded by a grant from arts council of Wales of £12.5k.

Councillor Sarah Merry previously said: “This is a wonderful example of collaborative working, bringing together several local schools to celebrate one of Cardiff’s most acclaimed sportsmen of recent times. The mural will inspire all those children and young people who visit the cycle track, reminding them of what they can achieve with enthusiasm, hard work and determination.” Those children and others worked hard to make the artwork shown below. Councillor Sarah Merry now supports the demolition of the artwork, wonder what would she would say to the creators of the artwork now?
